About Us

Oakview Assisted Living, Moose Lake, MN

On January 1, 2005, the first building of 10 units opened at Oakview Assisted Living. A second building of 10 additional units followed a few short months later. Doctors Sue and Dan Benzie had been planning for this moment for a number of years. As practicing physicians, they were keenly aware of the limited options available to seniors in the Moose Lake area. Their goal was to create a comfortable, homelike environment for seniors who were unable to live on their own. They continue to abide by their original motto: Providing Quality Living With Compassionate Care.

Now retired from their respective practices, Sue and Dan play an active role in the oversight of Oakview Assisted Living. With a staff that includes RN Melissa Halvorson, Administrator Bruce Bock along with a dedicated group of Direct Care Givers, the entire Oakview Team works to meet the individual needs of the twenty residents who call Oakview home.

Being locally owned and operated, Oakview is a good fit for the Moose Lake area. We're just down the street from Mercy Hospital and Gateway Clinic and enjoy the company of our Talbot Street neighbors. We serve residents of Carlton, Pine and Aitkin counties along with folks that relocate to the area to be closer to family members.

2009 saw the addition of Memory and Advanced Medical Care. In 2011 a new 10-unit building will be opening to serve seniors with memory care and advanced medical needs.  By adding staff and offering additional training to our existing staff, Oakview continues to provide care to those residents who in the past may have needed to move out of the area or to a nursing home. This addition in services was brought about in part by the recommendations of the Oakview Community Advisory Board.

Oakview will continually work to meet the needs of the community it serves.
